Buyer's guide

How much does mystery shopping cost?

The cost of a mystery shop depends on what you want measured and how often. This guide explains the factors so you can compare providers fairly. Our own current prices are always on the pricing page.

What affects the price

  • Shop type: a phone call or web inquiry is usually simpler than an in-person visit.
  • Scorecard length: more questions and evidence take the shopper more time.
  • Purchases: some visits require buying something, which may be reimbursed separately.
  • Number of locations and how often each is shopped.
  • Turnaround: how quickly you need the report.

What to check before you buy

  • Is the total commitment shown before you pay?
  • Is there a minimum term, and what happens to unused shops?
  • Can extra costs be charged without your approval?
  • What exactly is in the final report?
